The Plastics to open for TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB and Stereo Kids enters the 5FM Top 40!

Cape Town based retro indie band, THE PLASTICS, are to open for international band, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB in Cape Town on the 3rd of March.

“We were offered the opportunity by the organisers a few weeks ago and couldn’t say no!  They’re a band that we’ve admired for a long time and we’re really interested to see what their live show is like, especially since they’re revered overseas as a great live band!”

Two Door Cinema Club will be making their way to South Africa for two shows in March 2012. Hailing from Bangor and Donaghadee in Northern Ireland, the band was formed in 2007 and launched their debut album entitled Tourist History in March 2010.

Since releasing their debut album Two Door Cinema Club have rapidly become one of the biggest success stories in the UK music scene. They’ve sold out headline tours in the United Kingdom, United States, Europe, Australia, Asia, Japan and South America.

“We’re not doing the show just to make up the numbers though – we’re going out to impress and we’ve got an army of new songs since our last album that we’re excited about!  So we’re going to pull out all the stops to make it memorable.  It’ll be our first show with a famous international band so naturally we can’t wait for the day!  I think our music makes a good fit with Two Door Cinema Club.  Both of our bands’ music is designed for the dance floor so it’s going to be a fun show!”

5 Gum is bringing Two Door Cinema Club to South Africa. In Cape Town, they will be supported by The Plastics and Ashtray Electric, and Blush ‘n Bass will be closing the memorable event.

“It’s always difficult to predict these tings, but we felt that the way that Stereo Kids came out and the help we got from Dreamspace Recording Studio in crafting it, the song had a chance to make an impact on the airwaves.  And we’re excited to find out that it has! “
