Old Mutual Music in the Gardens: Sunday 12 June: Watershed at Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden, Johannesburg.
Music in the Gardens Concert Series
Old Mutual is proud to present yet another concert series of SA’s leading phenomenal artists, with their annual Old Mutual Music in the Garden series. In association with South African National Biodiversity Institute the concert series will take place at the popular botanical gardens: Pretoria National Botanical Gardens and the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden. In the month of June, concert goers may look forward to acclaimed local bands: Watershed, Theuns Jordaan, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Vivere.
Watershed
SA’s leading acoustic rock and pop group Watershed has a string of platinum and gold albums and awards to its name. In 2003 they won the Best Pop Album SAMA for their debut album Wrapped in a Stone. A decade after their first release album, Watershed had taken a giant leap in 2010 by performing at the prestigious South by Southwest festival in Austin Texas, Canadian Music Week, amongst numerous other festivals in Europe. To date they have racked up more international releases for their studio albums and unveiling a hits compilation that honours their rich history of music production and their established name in the music industry.
Watershed have been extremely busy recording a brand new single entitled ‘Water’ with legendary producer Brian O’Shea. Brian was also responsible for the recording of Watershed’s first two albums. The single is currently being mixed and mastered and is set for release to radio at the beginning of July. The band have been busy performing all over the country with a brilliant performance recently at the Durban Botanical Gardens. A brand new video is set for the single but in the meanwhile, a new studio video of ‘A Million Faces’ featuring Liz Rennie and Tim Moloi has just hit Youtube.
The video showcases a more intimate performance by the band. Craig Hinds has been busy being involved in the Nikon online charity campaign that starts this month as well as being involved with the composition of the music for the new ‘Jock Of The Bushveld’ animated movie.
