Socialite Fiasco Music announces the launch of Brasilissima by Brazilian American singer Mônica da Silva. Mônica’s new album is a throwback to the days of Astrud Gilberto with plenty of modern elements and edge. Mônica grew up between the U.S. and Belém, Brazil, a city on the Amazon River. On Brasilissima, she brings this cultural diversity to her music, seamlessly flowing between English and Portuguese and blending bossa nova with indie pop. Miami’s Acontece Magazine has called Mônica’s music “the future of Bossa Nova with the face of youth today.”
Putumayo Records is excited to feature up-and-coming artist Mônica da Silva on their forthcoming album Brazilian Beat. Her first single from Brasilissima “Aí Então”, will be part of the Putumayo World Beat Series, to be released on January 31st. The official video for “Aí Então” has just been released. The cutesy video features the song’s two writers Mônica da Silva and Chad Alger. The couple call their self-styled music “indie nova”.
