Best New Artist American Music Awards winners Hot Chelle Rae have struck platinum again with the RIAA certification of “I Like It Like That, ” the follow up single to their double platinum hit “Tonight Tonight” from their second studio album WHATEVER . The band just kicked off their 33+ date headlining tour this week on Feburary 10th in Metarie, LA, with multiple dates already sold out in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis as well as this week’s Denver show.
Hot Chelle Rae’s brand new album WHATEVER released at the end of 2011, features their two irresistible pop hit singles “Tonight Tonight” and“I Like It Like That” – other album highlights include “Why Don’t You Love Me,” featuring pop solo artist Demi Lovato, quirky break-up song “Honestly,” finger-snapper “Radio” (featuring rising rapper Bei Maejor), be-yourself anthem and tour name “Beautiful Freaks,” and the title track, the “three in the air and you just don’t care” anthem for the now generation “Whatever.” The NY POST calls WHATEVER “effervescent” and USA TODAY describes WHATEVER as an album full of “tight hooks, savvy cameos, and sing-along choruses so insanely catchy…Hot Chelle Rae is riding a great buzz.”
Declared “one of the catchiest pop-rock anthems of the summer” by USA Today, the album’s first single “Tonight Tonight” crashed into the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July, shot to No. 1 at Hot AC radio in September, and was certified double platinum in the U.S and Australia, and platinum in Canada. The band’s second single “I Like It Like That” which just was certified platinum in the US and Australia was declared by Entertainment Weekly as “bubbly elasti-funk” and an “official fall-resisting battle cry.” “I Like It Like That” features hip-hop duo New Boyz and is currently #15 on the Top 40 chart, while the song’s documentary-style video racked up over 1 million views in its first 3 days on VEVO. Hot Chelle Rae will also embark on an Australian arena tour in March 2012 opening for Taylor Swift in the midst of their US headlining tour.
Hot Chelle Rae is scheduled to perform on Cartoon Network’s “Hall of Game Awards” on February 20th. They recently performed on the American Music Awards (pre-show), The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Today Show, Live with Kelly!, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Z100’s Jingle Ball’11, the CBS Early Show and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 live from Times Square.
