It is exciting times for Die Heuwels Fantasties with their recent trip to New Zealand as the Springboks’ Art ambassadors and performances at the Huisgenoot Skouspel this past weekend. Their second album, Wilder as die Wildtuin, achieved Gold status in sales in September and they were chosen to share the stage with Kings of Leon on 26 October in Cape Town and on 29 October in Johannesburg.
The band is excited about the invitation to play at Huisgenoot’s new Afrikaans music festival, the Namaqua Festival outside Vrendendal on Friday, 28 October. Jack Parow and Coenie de Villiers will join Die Heuwels Fantasties on stage to make this performance extra special.
“We were originally booked to play at the Namaqua Festival on the Saturday evening, but Huisgenoot moved us to the Friday evening so we can play with Kings of Leon on the Saturday. We will also perform with Coenie and Parow! It is going to be awesome,” says Hunter Kennedy, the band’s bassist.
Pop star Jax Panik will now fill the spot on Saturday evening that was originally intended for Die Heuwels Fantasties. Die Heuwels Fantasties will also perform at the Pendoring Awards in Midrand on 21 October and at the Pica Awards in Sandton on 17 November.
Heel te Mal in Nieu-Seeland
Jaco “Snakehead” Venter (aKING and Fokofpolisiekar) filmed footage of the band’s trip in New Zealand during the Rugby World Cup. The result is an inspiring music video for their song Heel te Mal.
