DAUGHTRY ANNOUNCE TITLE AND RELEASE DATE FOR EAGERLY ANTICIPATED THIRD ALBUM

BREAK THE SPELL DUE FROM 19/RCA RECORDS ON 21 NOVEMBER 2011

Multi-platinum selling rock band DAUGHTRY has announced details about its highly anticipated third album, which will be called Break The Spell. It will be released by 19 Recordings/RCA Records on November 21st — five years to the day that the band released its self-titled 5x-platinum debut album, which shot straight to No. 1, as did the group’s second, 2009’s platinum Leave This Town. Two tracks have been released to radio: “Renegade,” which is climbing the chart at Rock, and “Crawling Back to You” which was the No. 1 Most-Added track at Hot AC this week and could become the band’s fifth No. 1 at the format.

Break the Spell is a gleaming showcase for frontman Chris Daughtry’s powerful, emotionally resonant voice and knack for relentless melodic hooks and big, anthemic choruses. Produced by Howard Benson, who produced Daughtry’s two previous albums, Break The Spell gives the band room to evolve musically while aiming to satisfy its many long-time fans. “Going in to the writing sessions, we said, ‘Let’s not try to sound like anything. Let’s just write, and see what happens,’” says Chris, who co-wrote every song with either one of his band-mates (guitarists Josh Steely and Brian Craddock and bassist Josh Paul) or collaborators such as Marti Frederiksen, Busbee, and Bret James. “We came up with some pretty interesting tunes that sound nothing like anything we’ve done before. Even though some of them didn’t make the album, the process stretched us and took us to new places. It was an absolutely inspirational experience.”

Daughtry  has a song featured on the soundtrack to the video game Batman: Arkham City, a heavy rocker called “Drown In You” that is exclusive to the soundtrack, which will be released on October 4th. Daughtry is also featured on the upcoming ZZ Top tribute album A Tribute From Friends with a cover of “Waitin’ For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago” due out  11 October 2011.
