Laurie Levine`s new album “Six Winters” (Rhythm Records) has been receiving rewarding reviews since its release in August 2011. Producer Dan Roberts, who worked with Laurie on her previous album as well, found a balance between a contemporary sound and Laurie`s love of folk music. The combination of Laurie’s characteristic songwriting and Dan Roberts` unique engineering and dedicated production flair is cutting new territory and could very well head up a new movement leading us towards a rekindled appreciation of the power and the role in society of female story telling through music.
Journalist Henry Cloete, MK online, comments: “Levine sings alternately with the seductive suppleness of a Norah Jones, the emotional devastation of a Duffy, the poetic conviction of a Regina Spektor and the doggedness of Fiona Apple. From the sixteenth second of the album – when Levine’s voice announces itself – you’re caught up in the tales and anecdotes of Laurie Levine. Ritalin for the soul.”
After a very successful CD Launch in Cape Town, Laurie Levine will soon be introducing the new album at two official CD Launches in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
